2nd Test: Pakistan end dismal Bangladesh tour on a high
DHAKA: Pakistan clinched the test series against Bangladesh 1-0 after winning the second test match by 328 runs on Saturday, ARYSports.tv reports.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first.
Pakistan scored 557 runs in the first innings thanks to a 227 run knock by Azhar Ali. Younis Khan scored 148 while Asad Shafiq made 107 runs for his team.
Taijul Islam took three wickets whereas Mohammad Shahid and Shuvagra Hom took two wickets each while Shakib Al Hasan dismissed one batsman.
Bangladesh were all out for 203 in their first innings. Shakib made an unbeaten 89 runs for his side while Imrul Kayes and Mahmudullah made 32 and 28 runs respectively.
Wahab Riaz and Yasir Shah took three wickets each while Junaid Khan grabbed two wickets and Mohammad Hafeez also took a wicket as well.
Despite with a lead of 354 runs, the visitors did not enforce the follow on. They declared at 195/6 with captain Misbah-ul-Haq scoring 82 runs while Younis Khan contributing 39 runs for the side.
Mohammad Shahid took two wickerts while Taijul Islam, Soumya Sarkar, Shuvagta Hom and Mahmudullah all taking one wicket each.
Bangladesh, chasing a target of 550 runs, could only manage 221 runs in their second innings. Mominul Haque scored 68 runs while Tamim Iqbal and Shuvagta Hom made 42 and 39 runs each.
Yasir Shah grabbed four wickets while Imran Khan took two wickets while Junaid Khan, wahab Riaz and Mohammad Hafeez took one wicket.
Azhar Ali was named the Man of the Match and Man of the Series.
It was a much need win for Pakistan as they had suffered a humiliating whitewash in the three match one day series and also lost the only Twenty20 game of the tour as well.
The first test match had ended in a draw.
