5 Pakistan cricketers who deserve a chance at the international level

Pakistan cricket has always been blessed with cricketers who can surprise you with their exuberant and rich cricketing talent. Although some may argue with the way our cricketers, especially in the domestic circuit, are brought up and nurtured but the performances of some of the cricketers beg the question as to why they have not been given a go in the Pakistan international side.

Let’s take a look at 5 cricketers who have impressed one and all through their performances and deserve to represent Pakistan on the international level.

Fakhar Zaman

The 26 year old Mardan born player, which is also the place Pakistan test legend Younis Khan hails from, has been knocking on the door for quite a while with his consistent performances at the top of the order. He was also instrumental in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa winning the first ever Pakistan Cup where he accumulated 297 runs and was the second highest run scorer. Zaman averages close to 41 in First class matches and 54 in List A matches which is an example of his dominance in the domestic circuit. With Pakistan struggling to find a proper opener for all formats Fakhar Zamam could be the answer to Pakistan woes at the top of the order.

Sami Aslam

Another talented young opener Sami Aslam has made his mark on Pakistan’s cricket with his match winning and frequent knocks at the all important opening slot. He was one of Sindh’s best batsman in the recently concluded Pakistan Cup where he notched up a century and a half century. The 20 year old player has played 2 test matches and an ODI match for Pakistan but a mediocre display meant that he lost his spot but this does not mean that the talented player should be sidelined because he deserves another shot at the highest level.

Zohaib Khan

Zohaib Khan has definitely grabbed attention of the selectors and a major faction of a cricket loving nation through his all round capabilities. He was part of the Lahore Qalandars side in the Pakistan Super League where he was quite successful but his major breakthrough came in the Pakistan Cup where he led his team Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the front with both bat and ball. He bagged 11 wickets in 5 matches and also made 176 runs in the crucial middle order for his side. His match winning performances also got his team out of jail during crucial juncture of a match. The 32 year player is well experienced and has featured in 82 First Class matches, 64 List A matches and 52 T20 matches and has a calm head on his shoulders which is quite a rare thing when it comes to Pakistan cricketers.

The left arm fast bowler hailing from Vehari, Punjab is a skillful and talented pacer who can swing the ball both ways although he needs to work a bit on his bringing the ball back into the right handed batsman but he also has the pace to trouble the batsman with his short pitch bowling and the odd bouncer can be lethal at times. He has over 200 wickets in domestic cricket at a pretty decent economy rate and average in both First Class and List A matches. He took 10 wickets in 5 matches in Pakistan Cup at an average of 17 and an economy rate of just over 4.

Sadaf Hussain

Finally last but not the least another left arm fast bowler Sadaf Hussain has been performing from quite a while but his inability to break into the Pakistan lineup is surprising at times. He has loads of experience and plenty of wickets to his credit in the domestic circuit. He holds 283 wickets in 59 First Class matches which includes 13 four wicket hauls and 22 five wicket hauls which is staggering to say the least. He has also bagged 77 wickets in 34 List A matches.

Although it can not be said for certain that all of the above mentioned players will succeed at the international level but they at least deserve one chance in the limelight.
