A historic series win
Pakistan and India have a long list of historic battles and moments and one such historic moment took place today in 1978 when Pakistan won their first even test series versus India.
The third test match was played at the National stadium in Karachi and Pakistan, having already taken a 1-0 lead in the series, just needed to come out of this test match safely. India set Pakistan a target of 164 runs after fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz ran through the Indian batting lineup with figures of 5-70. Pakistan chased down the target in just 24.5 overs and losing only 2 wickets. Asif Iqbal scored 44 runs while Javed Miandad played an innings of 62* and ensured that Pakistan won the series 2-0.
Amongst the top performers Indian Sunil Gavakar scored a century in both innings which was a significant achievement in test matches and Imran Khan too 6 wickets in the match to support Sarfraz Nawaz and lead Pakistan to victory.
