Aaqib Javed decides not to apply for the post of head coach
According to earlier reports, Aaqib Javed seemed to be a strong contender to hold the position of Pakistan’s head coach, but the former fast bowler has decided not to apply for the post.
Position of head coach was vacant after Waqar Younis resigned with a heavy heart. The PCB formed a panel consisting of Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja that will help the board to find a suitable candidate.
According to Aaqib Javed, the people helping the board to find the coach have already made up their mind to appoint a foreign coach, thus, there is no point of applying for it.
As per the reports, Dean Jones is the strongest candidate to become the next head coach of Pakistan. He was the coach of Islamabad United that went on to win the first edition of the Pakistan Super League after a poor start to the tournament.
Wasim Akram, who is helping the board to find the coach, was the director and the bowling coach of Islamabad United and he has the experience of working Dean Jones in the franchise league.
Other than Dean Jones, the names that are coming up as strong contenders are of Justin Langer, Tom Moody and Moin Khan.
