Afghan cricketer, Shafiqullah Shafiq assaulted in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Afghanistan’s wicketkeeper batsman, Shafiqullah Shafiq was assaulted by crowd during a cricket match in Peshawar University of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
As per an international newspaper, the eyewitnesses suggested that Shafiqullah Shafiq waved the Afghani flag during the contest and uttered some indecent words for Pakistan that raged the crowd.
However, a Pakistani Afghani student, Rehnuma Khalid Ameeri revealed in his social media post that the incident just depicts the increasing intolerance of Pakistanis towards Afghans.
Rehnuma further stated that Shafiqullah Shafiq is currently present in Pakistan for cricket tournament without the permission Afghanistan Cricket Board.
Shafiqullah Shafiq has played 16 One Day Internationals in Afghanistan outfit, he has scored 256 runs with an average of 19.69.
The tournament was one of numerous cricket events that take place all around Pakistan during the holy month of Ramadan.
