Afghanistan to host Habib Bank for a cricket series
Afghanistan is to host Pakistan’s Habib Bank Limited cricket team; where the team will play a four day game and four One Days against Afghanistan Squad Development.
The tour is all set to kick off from 14th May under Alokozay International Cricket Series. It is for the first time where Afghanistan is hosting a foreign cricket team for a series in Kabul.
Chairman Afghanistan Cricket Board, Nasimullah Danish said that it is an extremely positive step in increasing the supporters of cricket in the country and it will also help grow the game cricket in his part of the world.
The Chief Executive Officer of ACB, Shafiqullah Stanikzai claimed that the contests between the two sides will enable local supporters to watch their favorite teams in action.
He further said that Afghanistan Cricket Board was also constantly making efforts to host a foreign team and hosting Habib Bank’s team is a first big step towards the goal.
Cricket is flourishing in Afghanistan; they had success in World Cup and the World T20, which are probably the biggest success for the country in sports in the last ten years or so.
Inzamam Ul Haq, who recently resigned from the post of head coach of Afghanistan, said that they need to play against big teams to polish their skills.
Afghanistan’s national cricket team was scheduled to tour Pakistan in April, but, they backed off on security grounds after Lahore was targeted by terrorists with a horrifying bomb blasts.
