Afridi Believes Its Always Pakistan’s bowling against India’s Batting
Whenever Pakistan and India has faced each other, it has always been a contest between India’s world class batting and Pakistan’s outstanding bowling. The situation on March 19th, when the arch rivals will come face to face, is also expected to be the same. Pakistan T20 skipper, Shahid Afridi also believes that.
Pakistan’s participation in the World T20 event was doubtful due to security threats to them in the neighboring country. As a result, the 2009 World T20 champions are the last ones to land in India.
Shahid Afridi talked to the media for the first time after landing in India, he again coined Pakistan bowling lineup their main weapon to defeat India in the World event.
He said, “I think this has been the case over the last 60 years,”
He further added, “Our bowling attack is pretty good. You have Mohammad Amir and (Mohammad) Irfan. (Mohammad) Sami is also back and then there is Wahab Riaz. The fast bowling attack overall is very strong.”
“If our batsmen, according to team plans, can give us a defendable total, I’m confident (the bowlers can clinch it).”
Pakistan’s pace bowling looks extremely solid with Mohammad Amir leading the attack and Mohammad Irfan, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Sami supporting him. But, Afridi showed confidence over his spin attack as well.
He told media, “We also have two quality spinners in Imad Wasim and Mohammad Nawaz. If you look at the entire bowling unit, I’m very confident (of doing well),” said Afridi, who tops the wicket-takers’ list in the shortest format with 93 scalps.”
Pakistan has never lost a game in Eden Gardens till now, which surely would have beefed up the confidence of Shahid Afridi and his men.
He stated about the venue, “We have good memories of the ground,” Afridi said.
“We have played well at this ground, we know the conditions and the pitch suits us as well.”
Shahid Afirdi quoted that he has played cricket all around the world in his long lasting career, but, India is a special country to play the game.
“I would always remember the love my team and I got from the fans here.
“We got a lot of love here, we did not get this much love even in Pakistan, I can tell you. We always enjoyed playing here.”
Pakistan will kick off their World T20 campaign on March 16th against Oman or Bangladesh, whoever will win the contest between the two.
