Ancelotti hails Ronaldo’s professionalism
The Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti has praised the professionalism of the Portuguese and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. Carlo spent two years at Real Madrid and during his tenure he led the team to the coveted 10th UEFA Champions League title which is more popularly known as the La Decima.
Ancelotti gave a curious example to demonstrate the professionalism of Ronaldo by stating that he would stay back at the Real Madrid training base till 3:00 am for an ice bath rather than going back home to his the then girlfriend Irna Shayk.
“Even though he had [model and former partner] Irina Shayk waiting for him at home,” Ancelotti laughed during an interview with Financial Times.
“He does not care about money, he just wants to be the first.” added Carlo Ancelotti.
Carlo also stated that he did not see the same sort of level of commitment in other players going around and also shared his views on the stint with Chelsea.
“There are things where you can be elastic, and things where you must be strong,” he explains.
“If the players say, ‘coach, we have a tough week, can we stay in bed one more hour?’ that is OK. But when I have a meeting before the game, you must be on time.
“At Chelsea, we had a meeting at 10.30 am and [Didier] Drogba was not there. I don’t know if it was traffic or what. He came at 11. He didn’t play.”
The Italian will be coaching the Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich next season as Pep Guardiola moves on to his next challenging job at Manchester City.
