LONDON: England’s pace duo, James Anderson and Stuart Broad has created history in test cricket by becoming the top wicket-taker as opening bowling partners.
Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, who are known as Two W’s in the cricket fraternity, held the record before Anderson and Broad surpassed them.
The deadly bowling pair of Pakistan hunted 493 batsmen in 94 test matches at an average of 21.9 bowling together, the Two W’s are still considered as the most lethal pace bowling duo of all time due to their aggression, smartness and skill.
Anderson and Broad removed 494 batsmen in 118 test matches at n average of 26.4 as opening bowling partners.
The English opening bowlers rewrote history during the third test of Sri Lanka’s tour of England, which is England leading by 2-0 till now.
Other significant opening bowling partners in the list are Courtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh with 410 scalps to their name in just 86 matches.
Glenn McGrath and Jason Gilespie have also haunted batsman around the world in test cricket, they cracked 362 stumps bowling as a pair in 83 games.
The legendary South African pacers, Allan Donald and Shaun Pollock have bowled out 342 batsmen in 72 test matches.
