Aaqib may replace Waqar as head coach
Dhaka: Aaqib Javed is fully willing to replace Waqar, he says he hasn’t been approached by PCB as yet to act as a head coach for Pakistan team but if I am offered this responsibility I would certainly accept.
According to details the Green Shirts past performance in the short format has continuously remained unsatisfactory putting pressure on Waqar Younus. The cricket circle is demanding his removal as a coach and so is PCB which is least interested in giving him extension and according to recent reports WT20 would be his last event. The name of former pacer Aqib Javed is being taken for this position, who is busy nowadays coaching the UAE team.
Speaking to the media in Dhaka Aaqib Javed said I would like to join as a head coach for Pakistan team. Four years earlier I had left coaching pacers due to my family issues but now again the time has come to serve my country. He said if PCB offers me to coach the green shirts or become the head coach of national cricket academy, I would not refuse though nothing has been discussed as yet on this issue.
Meanwhile Aaqib while giving an interview to Indian press said “I am still against pacer Amir’s return to cricket who was involved in match fixing, the incidence which took place 6 years earlier at Lords still hurts me but anyway he has joined the team after completing his term. He will have to remain focused on his game only to match his past performance. Can he still become a deadly bowler as in the past? The answer depends on him”.
