Former Newcastle and England captain Alan Shearer has written off Arsenal’s chances of lifting the league title unless they sign a world class striker who can get them goals at will throughout the season.
While speaking as a pundit on the match between Arsenal and Crystal Palace, which ended in 1-1 draw, Alan said that the team lacks the ability to score goals when it matters most and this is precisely the reason why it is extremely difficult to win the elusive EPL crown.
‘They won’t win the league until they sign a top class, world-class striker, who can get 25 or 30 goals a season.’ said Shearer
The three-time Golden Boot winner added: ‘I’ve been saying all season that they’re at least two players, top players short, and my view hasn’t changed on that.’
Arsenal’s last EPL outing against Palace was another below par effort as they failed to register a win despite going ahead in the stoppage time of first half through Alexis Sánchez but a equalizer from Yannick Bolasie ruined Arsenal party. Although the Gunners held onto the ball for more than 70 percent of time but could not utilize the clear cut opportunities that came their way. A win against Crystal Palace could have brought them in third place and two points ahead of City with 5 matches to play but as things stands they are left on the 4th spot on the rankings.
