Balochistan pulled off an exciting win by 3 wickets against Islamabad in the last over of the game while chasing 316 runs. Islamabad posted a decent total of 315 runs batting first in the game, but, they failed to defend it.
Kamran Akmal took over captaincy as Misbah Ul Haq left for Umrah. He won the toss and elected to bat first. Sharjeel Khan was removed early in the piece when the score 39 runs. However, the Imam Ul Haq, the replacement of Misbah created an impact straightaway. The two contributed 217 runs for the second wicket partnership.
Imam Ul Haq scored 102 off 126 balls. Kamran Akmal played an aggressive innings of 134 runs at a strike rate of 131.37. But, once again, another team failed to utilize a firm platform set by the top order. Raza Ali Dar remained the third highest scorer with 26 runs for Islamabad and the rest fell without harming opposition much.
Islamabad had a fine start to their innings. Awais Zia, the aggressive left-hander took the initiative and played a fine innings of 45 runs on 42 balls. Azhar Ali wasn’t bothered with the departure of his partner and kept his good work going from the other end. Rameez Raja joined his skipper in the middle and made Balochistan’s position firmer, they were 133/2 in 23.5 overs.
Azhar eventually lost his wicket after scoring 80 runs, however, the young Babar Azam contributed with the senior partner Umar Akmal, Azam held one hand, whereas, Akmal kept scoring at a quicker rate. Babar Azam got out after scoring 31 off 48 balls, but Umar Akmal took his team to a touching distance to the victory. Sohail Tanvir finished the job a six when his team needed 5 in 3 balls, he made 26 off 9 deliveries.
Kamran akmal, despite of being at the losing side, received the Man of the Match award for his brilliant knock of 139 runs.
