‘Blame Game’ continues in PCB’s fact-finding meeting
Karachi: During the fact-finding committee meeting Pakistan cricket ‘Top-Shots’ blamed each other on the World Twenty20 debacle. Waqar Younus and Intikhab Alam put the entire blame on team’s captain and accused the chief selector of taking independent decisions.
During the fact-finding meeting the head coach spent most of his time criticizing Shahid Afridi and suggested action to be taken against Umar Akmal and Ahmad Shehzad, he had mentioned this in his report also, details of which became public on Monday. He said induction of Khurram Manzur in the team was not his recommendation, it was the selectors own forceful decision whereas I had requested for Salman Butt.
According to Waqar Younus the selection committee doesn’t have any vision and kept making frequent changes. Modern day cricket belongs to the youngsters but we witnessed a 39 years old cricketer make his debut. Waqar Younus also criticized Younus Khan who is confined to test only saying that if such old players are allowed to play, where would the new players go. Manager Intekhab Alam while declaring 7 players misfit didn’t miss targeting Shahid Afridi also. Chief selector Haroon Rashid said every time the team was selected with mutual consent, I kept advising and suggesting the management during the tour but no one bothered to take my advice. He further said that players fitness still remains a point of concern.
