BNP Paribas Open: Halep comes back to beat Jankovic in final
INDIAN WELLS, CALIFORNIA: Romania’s Simona Halep clinched the BNP Paribas Open after coming down from a set to beat Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic 2-6 7-5 6-4, ARYSports.tv reported.
Jankovic was on the edge of clinching the win at 5-4 in the second set when Halep came back in the next three to fight for the biggest title of her career.
Both players kept making plenty of mistakes but 23-year-old Halep remained calm and collected to win her third of the year.
Jankovic, who clinched the tournament in 2010, was in total control throughout the first set but flustered as she neared towards the win. She broke broke the Romanian 3-1 and 5-4 but Halep kept retaliating throughout the final.
The Serbian said that she lost the match as she was tensed at the end of second set, which proved to be a mistake.
