‘Consistent Poor Play ’ puts Pakistan’s cricket system to question
Karachi: Former cricketers raise questions on Pakistan’s cricket system after watching the pathetic performance of Pakistan cricket team during the WT20.
According to details Wasim Akram says the team’s short comings in all departments of the game have been exposed and they are very much behind their competitors, we are not doing anything right. Sharjeel Khan’s batting and to some extent Sami’s bowling was satisfactory but in all other areas we failed badly. He said the existing team comprises of the best players available in Pakistan but the difficulty is that most of them are not international level players. I would certainly blame the system for this which is extremely inefficient. Wasim Akram said Pakistan cricket team has gone back 10 years in the game because we didn’t improve our standard, even New Zealand has surpassed us. Its difficult to expect positive results after repeated mistakes.
Shahid Afridi is being criticized due to his bad strategy and out of form condition. He scored 49 in the first match of the tournament but came under heavily criticism by bringing in 4 fast bowlers on a spin wicket in Eden Garden, even his leg-spin bowling mystery failed. Former captain Javed Miandad commented that such a player who has always been unpredictable is made the captain of a team, so how can you expect a good game in such a situation.
Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar said, Pakistan team lost a winning match against New Zealand despite a good start given by Sharjeel Khan but not sending in Sarfraz Ahmad at a higher order proved a disaster. The batting order was absolutely wrong and we kept shouting on the TV channels about this. He said Pakistani batsmen lack technique and are weak in this area because none of them played good ground strokes in any of the matches.
