KARACHI: Junaid Khan is extremely disheartened by his exclusion from Pakistan’s ODI squad against England and Ireland series, he is once again whining about playing for England.
“I have no option but to consider playing for England now,” said the 26-year old while talking exclusively to Dawn News after the team was announced on Tuesday.
He went on to say that he had the offer to play for England in 2013 when he had a good season in English county, “Half of my family resides in England, but I kept Pakistan as my priority. I had the opportunity to play for England in 2013 after my outstanding performances in County cricket, but I rejected it.”
Junaid Khan last played an ODI against Zimbabwe in 2015, afterwards, he was left out from the test squad against England citing fitness issues by the newly appointed Chief Selector, Inzamam Ul Haq.
However, the left-arm fast bowler has brushed off the claims of being unfit and has stated that he has bowled great spells during practice games, “I bowled outstanding spells in my last practice game. I returned figures of one for 22 in seven overs,” Junaid said. “I was told to prove my fitness and I am 100 per cent fit.
Earlier, Junaid Khan refuted the rumor that he was considering to play for England, however, he has once again given the same statement.
