England may make a comeback, warns Wasim Akram
The Sultan of Swing, Wasim Akram said on Wednesday that the inclusion of James Anderson and Ben Stokes in the English ranks will be crucial and will definitely boost overall England’s performance in the second test match at Old Trafford, which is scheduled to start from Friday.
Pakistan dominated the hosts in the first test match of the series winning it convincingly by 75 runs. However, England has now recalled their most experienced pacer, James Anderson and the talented allrounder Ben Stokes along with the leggie, Adil Rashid.
In an interview to a private news channel, the fast bowling great said, “The inclusion of Stokes and Anderson will improve the overall performance of the English side.
“Pakistan must remain composed and cautious in next game as England may make a comeback.”
Wasim Akram also hailed the Lord’s hero Yasir Shah and termed him as a great inclusion in Pakistan team.
The legend said, “English team will be careful of Yasir Shah,” he added, “Yasir Shah is a great addition to Pakistan’s bowling attack.”
He replied on a question regarding Saqlain Mushtaq’s influence on England’s performance, “Saqlain Mushtaq’s presence in the English camp will definitely make a difference to Pakistan as he knows ins and outs of our national team,” the former Test captain said, adding, “Saqlain will tell English batsmen to tackle leg spinners especially Yasir Shah because he knows where and how to hit Pakistan.”
The former left-arm pacer doubts that English curator may produce a seam-friendly wicket at Old Trafford to trouble Pakistani batsmen.
But, still, the World Cup hero of 1992 believes that Pakistan has got what it takes to win the remaining of the test matches of the series, depending on how their batting performs.
