Federal minister (IPC) has reservations against PCB
Islamabad: The Federal minister for inter-provincial co ordination (IPC) Riaz Hussain Pirzada has complained that PCB fails to give any importance to the ministry. The new chairman’s decision will be taken by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the board must have an effective strategy to run cricket affairs in the proper direction. If the ministry is taken into confidence, positive results could be achieved during the international events.
Despite giving the entire sports budget to Pakistan Hockey Federation the results are in front of the people. It doesn’t matter if Majid Khan is a cousin of Imran Khan because in cricket these things don’t matter. While expressing his views in front of the media he said after the poor performance in Asia Cup and the World T20 the people of the country question us but PCB doesn’t bother to give any importance to the ministry. In the past mutual consultations helped to give positive results and the team won several world titles for the nation and the country. Today after continuous failures in international cricket events the cricket authorities instead of doing their self analysis are blaming each other which is bringing a bad name to the country.
In the past cricketers used to play for their country but now the situation is not understandable. He said various suggestions have been put forward in the national assembly for the betterment of cricket and we are tired of answering the standing committees. He said PCB’s chief patron is the Prime Minister therefore the ministry cannot take measures to get its authority recognized. Replying to a question he said our ministry is serious in promoting hockey which is our national game. We have 30 to 40 players available for squad selection who are made a part of the team, the Federation was granted seventy million rupees but its difficult to give away the entire sports budget to PHF. Foreign teams would certainly come to play provided the situation becomes favorable.
