Shoaib Malik and Pakistan cricket team manger Intikhab Alam are adamant that the fitness camp is of vital importance to a players development and this camp was of utmost importance for the team before their overseas tour of New Zealand. and the future tour of England. The fitness camp ended today at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
Intikhab Alam also confirmed that Mohammad Amir has been granted visa for the tour of New Zealand and all the players in the side have welcomed his return to the national setup. He added that the fitness camp will help the side in the future and seeing that the team does not have time during tour to go through a rigorous training camp when on tour it was decided to hold the camp at this time during the year.
Shoaib Malik said that the fitness and training camp has helped him recover rather nicely and he feels a lot better after this camp. Shoaib Malik also added that during his time away from the national side he played in league all over the world and with loads of superstars of modern day and cricket which was instrumental in keeping up with the game and playing quality cricket.
Malik added that the team’s performance in the shorter formats is not up to the mark which is why some work needs to be put in but he is hopeful that in the near future team will be on the right track. He also said that tours of Australia, New Zealand, England and South Africa are always tough for sub continent teams but they will give their best shot during the tour.
