It is the birthday of one of the greatest batsmen of all time, Brian Charles Lara. On his big day, let’s discuss some of his incredible achievements.
Brian Lara holds the highest individual score in a test innings. He scored 400* runs against England in 2004 at St. John’s Antigua
Brian Lara is the only batsman to score 501* runs in a first class match. He put this mammoth score on the board against Durham, playing for Warwickshire in 1994. He got two chances in the innings; he was bowled on a no-ball when he was on 12 and then dropped by keeper on a score of 18, he punished the opponents brutally for these mistakes.
The stylish left-hander has scored the most number of centuries for the West Indies, he has 31 centuries in test cricket and 19 tons in ODI cricket.
Lara has scored 20% of his team’s runs; he was used to be the lone warrior for his side, shouldering all the burden of West Indies’ batting.
He has struck 7 double centuries, one triple century and a 400 in international test cricket.
