KARACHI: The cricket team of well known Pakistan department, Habib Bank Limited (HBL) landed in Afghanistan on Sunday for a series against Afghanistan Development Squad.
As per the Afghanistan Cricket Board, it can be a positive step towards the growth of the game in the country.
The CEO of Afghanistan Cricket Board, Shafiqullah Stanikzai talked to scoreline.asia, “It is the first time that Afghanistan was hosting international players for cricket competition. I am thankful to the PCB and HBL for providing us with this great opportunity”
HBL team is scheduled to contest against Aghanistan Development squad in two four-day games and four one dayers.
Pakistan’s department team is captained by former test opener, Imran Farhat, whereas, Pakistan’s star batsman, Ahmed Shehzad is expected to join the team for the limited overs game.
Shafiqullah expressed a hope that the series will make the way smoother for hosting intenational teams, “Hosting the HBL team is the breakthrough and I hope it will pave the way for more visits from other international outfits.”
The Afghnaistan officials are seeing this series as an opportunity to get prepared for the upcoming Scotland and Ireland tour, This series will also provide good practice to Afghan players before the tours to Scotland and Ireland”, added Shafiqullah Stanakzai.
