According to Pakistan’s head coach, Waqar Younis, the unfriendly environment in India should motivate his men to do well in the World T20.
Waqar Younis asked his team to step up to the big challenge soon after Pakistan government gave the go ahead signal to Pakistani team. There was too much uncertainty due to the security threats for Pakistan in the neighboring country.
The head coach seemed pleased that his team has got the permission to fly to India to participate in the World T20 event.
Waqar Younis quoted that these difficult conditions in India for Pakistani team are not new, he had himself seen such situations in his playing days.
“We have faced such situations before. In fact, the situation was worse than this but we will go with a positive frame of mind,”
He believes that his team needs to play dominating cricket to defeat India on their home soil. Waqar further said that his team is not performing well in the recent times; Pakistan lost the T20 series against England and New Zealand.
Pakistan put a disappointing show in Asia Cup, where they managed just two wins against UAE and Sri Lanka respectively, whereas, they suffer humiliated defeats against India and Bangladesh during the tournament.
Waqar coined World T20 as a huge challenge. Pakistan’s group is extremely tough and they have to play some really good cricket to advance further into the tournament.
Pakistan’s biggest challenge of the tournament will be on 19th March, where they will lock horns against the arch rivals and the hosts of the tournament, India in Eden Gardens.
