Indian opener fined
Indian opener Murali Vijay was fined 30% of match fees by the match referee Jeff Crowe because he showed dissent at the Umpire’s decision after been given out in the 4th and final test match at New Delhi against South Africa. The batsman pointed at his arm guard and suggested that the decision was unfair which is clearly against the ICC rules.
An ICC statement stated
“India’s Murali Vijay has been fined for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during day three of the fourth Test between India and South Africa in New Delhi on Saturday”
“Vijay was fined 30 per cent of his match fee by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees”
“The player was found to have breached Article 2.1.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match”.
