Is it time for the Introduction of Mushfiqur Rahim?

The Pakistan Super League is doing justice to the hopes of Pakistan cricket fans. It has so far lived up to the expectations with some mouthwatering encounters taking place.

As far as the Karachi Kings are concerned, they entered the tournament probably as favorites. However, the current points table describes some other story. The beginning was indeed a dream one with bragging rights over the other big city, Lahore. Since then, it has been bit of a struggle as Shoaib Malik and CO are losing grip.

In terms of bench strength, Karachi are a team with massive depth and quality replacements available. The question, which looms large, is regarding the introduction of Mushfiqur Rahim in the final 11.

The man from Bangladesh is the mixture of quality and experience in the batting department. Also, from his eagle eye, he can help Malik in decision making from behind the stumps.

The thing this wicket keeper batsman offers is a creative mind in the middle order. He identifies the need of scoring singles and turning ones into twos. Further, he can shift gears when required. His understanding with fellow countryman Shakibul Hassan may well do wonders for Karachi Kings.

On the other hand, the question that takes birth is who will make way for the 27 year old? Keeping in mind the rule of 4 oversea players and an emerging one, Malik needs to sit down with the team management and work through this decision.

The pitches to come now are less tricky, which will allow the batsman to pile on the runs. Currently third in the table and only one victory, the tournament enters the business end where every defeat is harmful. With only 5 teams, one victory or defeat can change the entire complexion of the points table.
