Kaleemullah becomes first Pakistani to play for US football club
KARACHI: Footballer Kaleemullah will become the first Pakistani to play professional football in the United States.
Kaleemullah, dubbed as Pakistan’s Messi, has been signed by Sacramento Republic Football Club and will don the No. 15 jersey.
He will appear in at least 15 games in the four months of the upcoming football season in the United States.
Kaleemullah, in an interview to a private news channel, said that he was optimistic to perform in the US.
Kaleemullah played for Dordoi Bishkek of Kyrgyzstan in the last season and was the leading goal scorer with his tally of 18 goals in 17 games.
Moreover, he played for Khan Research Laboratories in Pakistan’s Premier Football League in which he netted the ball 72 times.
He was rewarded the Golden Boot in 2013 as well after scoring 32 goals in the Pakistan Premier Football League season.
