Keylor Navas sets up clean sheet record for Real Madrid
On Tuesday Real Madrid’s goal keeper Keylor Navas became the first goal keeper in the history of Real Madrid to keep 8 clean sheets in a single UEFA Champions League. His performance between the posts meant that the Manchester City were not able to find a pass through and secure a goal.
Speaking regarding the match Keylor said that the Los Blancos wanted to win this match but he is happy to keep a clean sheet. He added that the team will give it their all to in the second leg at their home ground in order to secure a berth in the final.
“We all wanted to win the match, it was important for us, but it’s always good to keep a clean sheet. We’ll have to try and do the same at home and win the game. At the Bernabéu, we’ll have to give everything to get to the final. Winning is the only way to do that.” Keylor was quoted as saying by Tribal Football.
“We had to manage the game. Manchester City came out strongly and we didn’t want to make any mistakes. We slowly began to take control of the match and did so until the end. The team did a good job, everyone was focussed and very well organised in defence, and thanks to that we avoided too many problems.” added Navas.
