Keys to success for Pakistan against India in World T20

Pakistan-India cricketing encounters are always a high drama action filled with thrills and spills. The matches between the two Asian nations are contested in an adrenaline pumping and high octane fashion. Their T20 World Cup encounter tomorrow is expected to be no different.

Although India can be called the favorites to win tomorrow but the Green Shirts can never be underestimated. Who can forget their Asia Cup match earlier this month in which Shahid “Boom Boom” Afridi hit two consecutive sixes to record a historic win against India and his seven sixes against Bangladesh? There are several things which Pakistan needs to perfect if they are to win the match.

First, we have to see that Indian batting line is always a threat for the opposition. Indeed they have a very strong batting lineup comprising of Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and their captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is their main finisher in the match. Getting Kohli and Dhawan back in the pavilion will really pressurize the Blue Shirts. Spinners like Afridi, Ajmal and Hafeez whereas the pacer Umar Gul will have to play their role in the match if Pakistan has to restrict the Indians to a low total.

Pakistan is a good chasing side in all formats. They chased big totals in the Asia Cup but failed miserably in the final when they came to bat first against Sri Lanka. Openers Mohammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal had a good showing in the warm-up match against New Zealand.  Although T20 is a fast paced format of the sport, the Green Shirts don’t have to play unnecessary, extravagant shots. Shahid Afridi, in particular, has to stick long in the crease as he can pressurize the Indian bowlers.

A good early and middle order partnership can definitely lay the foundation for the win if Pakistan decides to chase first in the match. Umar Akmal can also come in handy as he is a good hitter of the cricket ball. In short, the batting department of Pakistan has to play well if they are to have any chance of winning the match.

Pakistan has to field well throughout the match. They have to take their catches and not concede any extra or unnecessary runs. As the term says, “Catches win matches” so catching will hasto be well by the Green Shirts keeping in view that it is a Pakistan-India encounter in a Super10 stage of a World T20.

The Green Shirts will have to give their all if they are to beat India in the match tomorrow. They have to get danger men Kohli, Yuvraj and Dhawan out quickly and bat well with good contributions from the top and middle order. We have to see how the match turns out tomorrow.
