Dhawan and Kohli Win the Sixth Asia Cup for India

India has won their sixth Asia Cup, they defeated Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the rain affected final of the Asia Cup. The match was reduced to 15 overs a side due to heavy rain before the start of the play. Although, Bangladesh put a decent total of 120 runs on the board, but Kohli and Dhawan took the game away from the hosts with ease.

MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bangladesh had a good start as their openers contributed 27 runs together, before Tamim Iqbal perished playing a rash slog off Nehra. Soumya Sarkar was the next man to fall, getting LBW on Bumrah’s delivery. Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman took the responsibility and scored 34 runs together before Shakib got out.

The hero with the bat for Bangladesh was Mehmudullah, who came late in the innings, he played a little cameo of 33 runs off 13 deliveries that came extremely handy for his team. He took the hosts to a competitive total. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowler for India, he took 1 wicket in his 3 overs leaking just 13 runs.

India had a shaky start, Bangladesh kept the bowling tight and removed Rohit Sharma early in the piece. Virat Kohli joined Shikhar Dhawan at the total of 5 runs. The two Indian batters had a match winning partnership of 94 runs. Shikhar Dhawan lost his wicket after scoring 60 runs on just 44 balls, which were enough to steer his team to an extremely comfortable position. MS Dhoni promoted himself up the order; he came in and finished the game in a jiffy. He struck 20 runs on just 6 deliveries to make India the Asian Champions yet again.

Virat Kohli was once again breathtaking with 48 runs off 28 deliveries. But, the prominent performer for India in the all important game was Shikhar Dhawan with his 60 runs on 44 balls. Taskin Ahmed was the best bowler for Bangladesh for giving away 14 runs in 3 overs with the big wicket of Shikhar Dhawan.

India has been in prime form, Virat Kohli is going through the purple patch. In bowling, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashish Nehra and Ashwin looking dangerous. India will surely carry the momentum into the World T20, they probably are clear favorites to win the mega event.
