Right arm medium fast Sri Lankan bowler Nuwan Kulasekara has announced retirement from test cricket according to an official press release of by Sri Lanka cricket.
“I would like to retire from playing Test cricket with immediate effect,” he was quoted as saying by a Sri Lanka Cricket press release. “After much thought I believe it is the right time to retire and I hope it will allow me to better prepare for ODI and T20 cricket, which I would like to continue playing for Sri Lanka subject to good performance and selection”
Kulasekara played 21 test matches and picked up 48 wickets for Sri Lanka and made his debut back in April 2005. He played his last test match for Sri Lanka in June 2014 against England which ended in nail-biting draw. The pacer has also played 173 ODI matches and was ranked as the number one bowler in March 2009.
Having announced his retirement from test matches the bowler now wants to focus more on ODIs and T20s.
