Lack of crowd mars Asia’s pink ball debut

DUBAI: One of the major reason behind bringing forward the idea of day-night Test match was to attract crowd towards the stadium but the first day of the match between Pakistan and West Indies failed to achieve this purpose.

Pakistan and West Indies are currently playing Asia’s first ever Test match at Dubai but on the very first day the match failed to grab the attention of the crowd. The stadium remained close to empty during the entire day’s play despite the fact that this was a historic moment in cricket and also Pakistan’s 400th Test match.

Pakistan Cricket Board had the option of filling up a substantial part of the ground by inviting kids from various surrounding schools but it seems as if that was not the focus of PCB’s marketing team.

Due to the holiday on Friday, in UAE, it is expected that an handsome crowd will turn up to watch the match and fill up the stadium.
