Lets play cricket to reduce” Tension” …Waqar messages India
Coach Waqar Younus says India should play series against Pakistan to ease tension between both the countries. Though the relation between both the countries is not very healthy, lack of play could further bring harm to the overall sport. “I have all hopes to see the teams play in December” said Waqar Younus.
Showing his availability as a coach for the PSL he emphasized to include under 19 and 23 players in the team. There’s no harm in calling famous players from abroad but we need to have a balanced team, said Waqar. Replying to a question, the former pacer said its difficult to comment regarding the return of accused players as he is not in a position to reply at the moment.
The coach also said, Saeed Ajmal is passing through a very difficult period of his career, he needs time to prove himself with the new bowling action and can return to top cricket only after gaining his form. The former captain referring to England series said it would not be wrong to give rest to some senior players while touring Zimbabwe as all eyes were set on playing England series.
Waqar Younus said, a great event is going to take place in Qatar and our players can gain a lot while playing the PSL. Previously countries like India, Australia and Bangladesh have been holding such leagues and their players have benefited a lot. While PSL will be providing monetary advantages to the players, necessary measures need to be taken to improve our national cricket also. At the end of the event we should see new talent in action playing for Pakistan as witnessed in the IPL where youngsters were given a chance.
He said when the main round of national T20 cup begins he would go to Rawalpindi for 2-3 days to meet the selectors and regional coaches to have their opinion regarding the players performance. “We need to discuss and select the national and A teams soon and I have asked the chief selector to form a pool of players who could be tested as and when required.” said Waqar Younus.
Haroon Rashid has also indicated to give rest to some senior players during the Zimbabwe tour as there would be two consecutive series to be played before playing England, this would help them to be well prepared for the England series. Test Specialist players would stay back in Pakistan and practice in the camps.
