The federal minister for inter-provincial coordination has put forward the name of former cricketer Majid Khan for the post of chairman PCB in place of Shaharyar Khan.
Speaking on the floor of the house at the National Assembly in Islamabad Riaz Pirzada said that the current setup of the Pakistan Cricket Board is responsible for the turmoil in Pakistan cricket. He added that the batsman and bowlers failed miserably and could not live up to expectations.
Pirzada said that he has asked the patron in chief of PCB, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, to change the chairman and appoint Majid Khan instead because the current members of the board are not at all sincere towards their work and have done nothing for the betterment of cricket in Pakistan.
He pointed out the example of Bangladesh and their gradual increase in stature of their cricket and he hoped that our government and board should back the team at all times and not just during their finest hour.
Although their was news circulating regarding PCB’s chairman Shaharyar Khan and his resignation but he cleared the air by doing a press conference in which he stated that he has no intention of leaving this post and will continue to run the board in the future. Pakistan’s coach and captain Waqar Younis and Shahid Afridi, respectively, have already stepped down from their posts and Pakistan have made Sarfraz Ahmed the captain of the Pakistan’s national T20 side.
