McCullum hammers fastest century in his last test match
2 fly slips in a test match? Yep that’s right, something which you will never see in cricket but Brendon McCullum can make you do such things on the field as he smacks the fastest hundred in test matches.
The century came at the most opportune moment because this is his last test match before he bows out from international cricket. The terrific century came off just 54 balls which broke the previous record shared by Viv Richards and Misbah-ul-Haq. The Blackcaps were reeling at 32/3 when Brendon stepped out onto the field, amid a guard of honor from the Australian team, but his innings changed the course of innings.
McCullum was give a life when a splendid catch by Mitchell Marsh of the bowling off James Pattinson was declared a no-ball because the fast bowler over stepped the line. Brendon was on 39 at this point. This was a major let-off as Brendon McCullum went on to score 145 runs in just 79 balls which included 21 fours and 6 massive sixes. The Aussie bowlers had no answers to the brilliant batting display from the explosive wicketkeeper batsman as he smacked them to every part of the ground. He was finally dismissed when a good catch in the deep by Lyon ensured that the amazing innings of the hard hitting batsman came to an end.
