Rohit Sharma, who was bamboozled by Mohammad Amir with his venomous inswingers in the low scoring game between the arch rivals, has coined his a “normal bowler”. He said that the hype on the Pakistani pacer’s comeback was exaggerated and unjustified. Instead, he has called Jasprit Bumrah, the new Indian pacer with awkward action, as a “rare talent”.
Rohit Sharma asked people to stop talking about him so much. He said, Amir isn’t the only Pakistani bowler doing well; the other five bowlers in their bowling line up are also doing a decent job.
Rohit Sharma said, “There is just so much hype around him, I don’t think it is right to give him too much hype after one match. He is good but he needs to prove it over and over again. Now people are comparing him to Wasim Akram and all that. He is just a normal bowler, on that given day if he is good, he is good. It is not as if he turns up and blows everyone away.”
Whereas, Indian test skipper and the batting sensation, Virat Kohli praised Mohammad Amir before the Indo-Pak clash in the Asia Cup, appreciating him as a “world class” bowler.
After the match winning innings against Pakistan, he said in the post match presentation, “I would like to compliment Mohammad Amir for the way he bowled. I actually congratulated him while he was bowling,”
He further added, “I was so happy to play such an amazing spell. He is a world-class bowler.”
Mohammad Amir was praised by almost all cricket legends after his vicious spell against India, dismissing Rohit Sharm, Ajinkya Rahane and Suresh Raina in just no time. His bowling figures were 3 for 18 in his four overs. Amir got 7 wickets in the four matches he played with an economy of 5.06. He also equaled the world record of bowling most dot balls in a T20 match with 21 dot balls against UAE. His figures were 2 for 6 in 4 overs.
Rohit Sharma hailed his teammate, Bumrah saying, “He is an exception. He will come up with a surprise,”
“Like I was standing in the slip the other night in the finals and I couldn’t make out what he is going to do. Even the captain doesn’t know.
“He has got a good yorker, he has got a good bouncer, a good slower one. He has got all what a modern day bowler needs. His action is like that when Malinga first came, and when I played him at the nets for the first time it was difficult. You don’t play such bowlers everyday – I know only two bowlers in the world – [Lasith] Malinga and Bumrah – who have such unique actions.”
Pakistan and India are scheduled to take on each other on 19th March in Dharamshala, however, there are some dark clouds around occurrence of the much anticipated contest of the World T20.
