Imran khan holds a special place in the hearts of every cricket loving Pakistani precisely due to the fact that he captained the side that won the auspicious world cup of 1992. Back then the term “Cornered tigers” was formed as Pakistan made it into the knockout stage of the world cup against all odds courtesy the inspirational captaincy of Imran Khan.

Today Imran khan celebrates his 63rd birthday and this is perhaps the opportune moment to look back at some of the amazing moments throughout his career which are unforgettable for this cricket crazy nation.

• Khan defends 4 runs off last over against Australia
A match played in Australia where the hosts were chasing and the prospect of an Aussie victory was quite high as they needed 4 off the last over. The captain himself decided to involve himself in the thick of things and took the responsibility of bowling the ultimate over. What happened after that is truly stunning as Imran Khan defended those mere 4 runs and took Pakistan to victory.

• A smashing knock against arch rivals India
At Faisalabad in 1983 against India Imran khan played an enthralling knock of 117 runs off just 121 balls in the first innings after India had posted a substantial first innings total. He along with Zaheer Abbas took Pakistan to a massive 652 runs which eventually lead Pakistan to victory against their old foes. Imran also shined with the ball in that match and took 11 wickets to compliment his exploits with the bat.

• World cup winning moment
Winning the 1992 world cup was like a dream come true because the way Pakistan won that world cup is nothing short of brilliant. At a time when nobody thought that Pakistan would win the world cup, Imran lead his troops in emphatic fashion and did the inevitable.

Imran Khan was indeed one of the finest cricketer Pakistan produced and his impact on the team was influential as he took Pakistan to famous victories by skillfully utilizing all his skills, be it with the bat in hand, his bowling or his ability to adapt with situation through his intelligent captaincy and not crumbling under pressure. Many players have played quality cricket for Pakistan at the highest of levels but the name and fame Imran Khan generated from this game is unmatchable.
