National Swimming Championship to start from July 29th
Lahore: National Open Swimming Championship will be held from July 29 at Lahore. All affiliated Units of Pakistan Swimming Federation will participate in this event which will be organized by the Federation at DHA Swimming Pool Complex Lahore till 31st July.
According to Secretary Federation Majid Wasim the championship event will serve as a trial to pick up new talent to represent the country in international events. The Asian Swimming Championship is being held in Japan in November 2016 and World Short Course Swimming Championship in Canada in December.
He said Pakistan’s two swimmers will be participating in the Rio Olympics 2016 based on the ‘Wild Card Entry’. These two swimmers include Harris Bande (400meter free-style) and Liana Catherine Swan (50 meter free-style). Majid Wasim said “Pakistan Swimming Federation is trying its best to promote the sports of swimming and encouraging results are coming forward. Pakistan has tremendous talent for swimming and proper facilities and exposure to tournaments can help this talent to build its confidence and bring great fame to the country.”
