New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets

New Zealand easily beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets with 29 overs remaining in the first one-day international in Christchurch on Saturday.

Sri Lanka, who elected to bat first, were all out for 188 with New Zealand reaching the target for the loss of three wickets.

Martin Guptill made 79 and Brendon McCullum 55.

In the Sri Lanka innings, Milinda Siriwardana made 66 and Nuwan Kulsekara 58 while for New Zealand Matt Henry took four for 49.
