The Pakistan government has granted permission to the 456 competitors for the upcoming South Asian Games in India. At first it was uncertain as to whether the contingent will participate in the games but Akhtar Ganjera has confirmed that government has given the go ahead to the board.
“The government has given clearance for the contingent to go to India and take part in nearly 22 disciplines including field hockey,” Akhtar Ganjera, the Director-General of Pakistan Sports Board, told PTI.
Akhtar added that the competitors will give it their all during the games and hopefully win a lot of medals for their country. He also wanted to foster better relations with India through sporting activities.
“We are going there to compete and try to win and also foster better relations with India,” he said.
The games will begin on the 5t of February and will conclude on the 16th of the same month. Two cities of India that is Guwahati and Shillong will host the event.
