Pakistan hockey team in trouble at the SAF games
Lahore: Pakistan hockey team faces unforeseen difficulties in the SAF games, amongst the 15 players available 3 become sick and unfit.
Pakistan’s hockey team head coach Muhammad Saqlain says the players reached Guwahati after travelling 30 hours which made them tired. Fareed Ahmad and Rizwan fell sick, Hasim Khan got injured during training and therefore we couldn’t score many goals against Sri Lanka, lot of players made missing, however they have now adjusted themselves on the Indian soil. The national team is fully determined and enthusiastic to win against India on Monday’s scheduled match says Saqlain.
Muhammad Saqlain said , India had arranged a one month training camp in M D Tayyab Ullah Hockey Stadium and the host team is well aware of the playing conditions. They will have an advantage of playing on their home ground with the crowds support but despite this I feel that Pakistan team is the favorite while playing against their traditional rival and we will enter the arena with a winning spirit.
The national chief coach said all other teams have entered the event with 18 players whereas we entered with 15, compelling us to utilize coach Rehan Butt to play against Sri Lanka. The former captain has an excellent record against India and is capable of striking goals whenever given a chance. Rehan Butt will yet have another opportunity to show his skills playing against the traditional rival India on Monday.
