Pakistan ‘miscalculated’ the conditions, says Malik
Shoaib Malik spoke about last night’s disastrous performance of Pakistan against India, he said his team ‘miscalculated’ the situation in Dhaka. Pakistan faced an embarrassing defeat against their arch rivals, India, by five wickets. Pakistan was thumped down by Indian bowling on just 83 runs.
Shoaib Malik told media after a practice session today, “Playing against India, it’s a pressure game for both the teams,”
He further added, “We made some mistakes, we didn’t know what the conditions here would be. It was tough to bat yesterday. But we miscalculated somewhat, because we had no idea about the conditions,”
Pakistan will face UAE on Monday in their second match of the tournament. The former skipper has coined the game against UAE as an interesting one, he said everyone learns from their mistakes, he and his teammates have learned the situation now and know how to deal with it. The second match for Pakistan in the Asia Cup, will be their 100th T20 international. They are the only one to achieve this feat.
Malik rated Pakistan’s bowling attack as the best in the tournament,”We know we have the best attack among all the teams. Batsmen have to take responsibility,”
He continued saying, “Whoever gets in has to score 60-70, so your team ends up scoring 140-150, which the bowlers can defend.”
There is no doubt that the kind of performance Pakistani bowlers has shown in that low scoring game, they would have confidence on their bowling lineup. Mohammad Amir displayed the highest quality of pace bowling against India, moving the ball around at a speed of 140 to 150 KPH. Other pacers of Pakistan also did a decent job.
