Pakistan on the brink of defeat

A lack luster show in all departments of the game handed Pakistan their second straight defeat in the ODI series and now the men in green are at the brink of losing the ODI series against the Barmy Army. Keeping in mind Pakistan also lost the ODI series versus England in UAE last time they visited the desert.

Come the final ODI Pakistan have no room for error and its about time the Pakistan team buckle up and concentrate on the job in hand. In Sharjah yesterday Pakistan made a decent start after winning the toss and at one stage they were 132/2 and had their eyes set on a big total but at that moment the team went in self destruct mode as they lost wicket in clusters and gave away the advantage. Captain Azhar, Shoaib Malik and Rizwan all threw away their wickets in chaotic fashion as they were all ran out in a rather silly turn of events.

Pakistan were  rolled over for 208 runs on the penultimate ball of their innings and had Wahab Riaz not played a good knock of 33 runs the team would have struggled to even go past the 200 mark.

Pakistan bowlers started really well and even took few quick wickets and at one stage England were 93/4 and Pakistan were really looking in a good position with the debutant Zafar Gohar bowling really well in tandem with Shoaib Malik. But an important stumping miss by Sarfraz Ahmed allowed the out of form Jos Buttler to settle and form a partnership with James Taylor. The duo combined to score over 100 runs and lead England to victory.

Azhar Ali did not have the best day in the captaincy department as he was way to defensive in the field at time and missed the plot at times when the pressure was supposed to be applied by bringing the field up in the circle. Anyways he has think out of the box in the future ODIs rather than just applying the text book fields and work on the angles in the field.

Pakistan will have to overcome their weakness in the final ODI in the second ODI if they have to make a comeback in the series and preserve their track record in UAE.

A loss in final match at Dubai will be a sever blow to our rankings as we will stay in 8th spot with just 88 rating points to their name.
