Anti Terrorist Front of India, who was opposing the hosting of Indo-Pak clash in India has threatened to dig Eden Garden’s pitch, where the match has recently been shifted from Dharmshala.
The ATFI’s stance is that they won’t allow staging Pakistan versus India game until the masterminds behind the Mumbai, Pathankot and Pampore attacks are handed over to India by Pakistan.
ATFI national president Viresh Shandilya said, “Hosting of Pakistan in India is a grave insult to all our brave soldiers who were martyred in these attacks. We will not allow the match at any cost, we will dig up the Eden pitch, there will be massive protests,”
He further added,”The ATFI now is holding a meet to decide our course of action. How can the Indian cricket board be insensitive to undermine the tears of widows of our martyrs? We will hold protests across Kolkata including the airport,”
It is the same group that threatened to destroy Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium’s wicket in Dharamshala. The match is scheduled on 19th March, initially it was set to be played in Dharamashala, but, later it was shifted to Kolkata keeping the security threats in view.
The recent statement from the ATFI may put the electrifying game in jeopardy once again. Pakistani team has not got an official permission from their government to travel to India yet.
