Pakistan vs India: Blast from the past

Pakistan and India are old foes and their matches are always highly entertaining and mouth watering. Whenever these two sides clash, the whole cricketing fraternity is watching and it is expected that the match will go down the wire and turn into another blockbuster event.

Pakistan have the upper hand in international matches against India and it’s safe to say that most of the victories have thoroughly entertained their fans. Considering the current situation the chances of the series between the two teams are bleak which is such an unfortunate sight.

Traditionally Pakistan have had many moments that their fans love to revisit every now then so let’s go through some of those and relive our glorious moments in cricket.

Javed Miandad’s last ball six at Sharjah

A match played in 1986 at Sharjah is one that no one can forget. Pakistan needed four runs from the last ball of the final over and Indian fast bowler Cheetan Sharma had the ball in his band. The man on strike was a set century maker Miandad and in an amazing turn of events he hit Sharma for six and won a famous match for Pakistan. Until today that match is quoted as one of the best one whenever there is a debate about famous cricket matches between these two sides.

Scintillating test win at Bangalore

Pakistan and India faced off in a famous test match at Bangalore way back in March 2005. The match looked as if it was headed towards the draw as Pakistan need 10 wickets on the final day to dismiss India and level the series. India had lost just one wicket till lunch but what transpired in the last two sessions is unforgettable. Pakistan took 9 wickets in a flurry and wiped off India just 6 overs before the end of play on day 5. Shahid Afridi, Arshad Khan and Kaneria played a vital role as they combined to take 7 wickets in that innings. Thus Pakistan leveled the series through an amazing win.

Thriller at Brisbane

Pakistan, India and Australia played a triangular series in Australia in the year 1990 and the arch rivals faced off in the second match of the tournament. Pakistan were chasing a modest total of 196 runs but made their job difficult courtesy some rash shots and also some good bowling. Pakistan were 8 down at a total of 153 runs and a defeat seemed likely. But at this stage Waqar Younis and Saqlain Mushtaq snitched a match winning partnership of 43 runs off 37 balls and led Pakistan to victory.

Asia cup 2014

The two sides faced off in another crunch encounter and Pakistan were chasing a target of 246 runs. Pakistan were looking down the barrel with 8 wickets down and needed 10 runs off the last over. They lost Ajmal on the first ball and Afridi was stranded at the other end but the last man in Junaid khan took a famous single run to get Afridi on strike. What happened next is going to be remembered for times to come as Lala dispatched two sixes off consecutive balls to win Pakistan the match and hence an electrifying evening ended with Pakistan’s win.

Minadad vs More

Javed Miandad and Kiran More got into an amazing conflict which saw Javed Miandad reacting in the funniest manner possible. The incident took place in 1992 in the world cup match between the two sides and its safe to say that this moment was perhaps on of the most hilarious moments of matches played between two sides.
