Pakistan T20 captain Shahid Afridi has said that Amir should be a part of the national setup because when he first asked Amir about the spot fixing incident he was quick to tell him the truth which is why he should be forgiven.
While talking to media in Lahore Afridi said that Pakistan should welcome back Amir but not the other two players, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif, because they kept on lying for 2-3 years and criticized team on private news channels.
He admitted that the teams in group stage are quite tough but he will really enjoy playing against those teams because of the competitive nature of matches.
He also said that Mohammad Irfan is still in the team plans and definitely a part of the initial 20 man squad but it should be remembered that Irfan was dropped from the T20 side that will face New Zealand in a few days time.
Shahid Afridi said that he wants to see the team on high when he finally calls it a day and takes retirement and he will look to leave behind a good team for his successors.
Afridi also said that seeing the current T20 side he rates his team quite high and is hopeful that it will play the semifinal and also the final of the mega event but he also stressed the importance of senior players to take responsibility and perform to the best of their ability.
