The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to put their World T20 participation on hold after security concerns from across the border. Although the Pakistan government has given the nod to PCB as far as participating in the competition is concerned but after the Chief Minister of Himachal Pardesh’s statement regarding the inability to provide foolproof security for this high profile clash has got PCB thinking about their decision.
In a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore PCB chairman Shaharyar khan has said that the Pakistan cricket is under threat from political parties like Shiv Sena and even Congress has said that they will not let the team play. In such a situation, the PCB chief indicated, that Pakistan’s participation in the event might not be possible.
Shaharyar Khan added that they are informing ICC about the developing situation and all they want is public statement from government of India that they can provide foolproof security to Pakistan and are ready to welcome them to India but unfortunately such a statement has not come yet.
PCB chairman said that they will closely monitor the situation till the very end and if the situation worsens they might even pull out of the World T20 at the eleventh hour.
The Interior Minister of Pakistan Chaudhry Nisar has also asked the PCB to carefully move forward on this situation and while talking to Shaharyar on a telephonic conversation he has said that if foolproof security is not provided by government of India then the team will not be allowed to participate in World T20.
