PCB drops the idea of hiring a PR firm in England
KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board has dropped the idea of hiring a PR firm in England to handle the media related activities and portray a positive image of the national team during the tour.
The PCB has earlier approached a couple of foreign media professionals, but, they turned down the offer citing different reasons, then the board was looking to hire a public relation firm, but, it was estimated to be too costly.
A source from the Pakistan Cricket Board told. “There was a suggestion to hire a public relations firm in England to look after the interests of the Pakistan team and cricket on the two and half month long tour but this is a very expensive exercise for the PCB which is already struggling financially so the idea has been dropped,”
Now, the PCB boss, Shahryar Khan himself along with the team manager Intikhab Alam and the media manager of the PCB, Agha Akbar will look after media related activities.
“Shaharyar himself is a former career diplomat and the board had also sent its GM media, Agha Akbar with the team for the Tests. They will along with manager Intikhab Alam be looking after the media affairs and issues to ensure the team does not get a hostile press or reception in the series,” the source said.
Shahryar Khan will be in England for his annual vacations in July and he will remain in touch with the team management.
