PCB revamps Pentangular Cup to Pakistan Cup
Pakistan Cricket Board has renamed the Pentangular Cup as Pakistan Cup which is to take place from 19th April to 1st May in Faisalabad.
The five captains and coaches will pick their players in a draft that is designed on a similar pattern to the PSL draft. There will be around 150 players in the draft, out which 75 players will be picked for the tournament. All the teams have to select one U-19 regional player in their squad.
Sindh is to be captained by Pakistan’s T20 skipper Sarfraz Ahmed while Tauseef Ahmed and Iqbal Imam will be in the coaching panel. Shoaib Malik will lead Punjab and Atiq uz Zaman will coach along with Mautashim Rashid. KPK will play under Younis Khan and they will be coached by Abdul Rehman and Kabir Khan. Misbah Ul Haq will captain the Federal side while Mansoor Rana and Sabih Azhar will be coaches. Balochistan will be led by Azhar Ali and the coaches will be Ijaz Ahmed and Taimur Zaman.
PCB has taken a positive decision of increasing domestic players’ pay by 100 percent. The draft is to take place tomorrow. According to Najam Sethi, the staffs involved with the teams are very experienced.
The draft includes a good blend of experienced and fresh blood players. There are 25 openers, 35 middle-order batsmen, 13 wicketkeepers, 31 allrounders, 20 medium pacers, 12 spinners & 20 U19 cricketers named for the draft.
