Peter Moores and Mickey Arthur emerging as frontrunners to become head coach
There are new names coming up as favorites to become the head coach of Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board has received applications from few foreigners. However, the frontrunners among those are from South African Mickey Arthur and former English coach Peter Moores.
Aaqib Javed is having a kind of rollercoaster ride. The moment Waqar Younis resigned from the head coach position, he was the favorite to hold it, then there were news that Aaqib refused apply for the post as Ramiz Raja and Wasim Akram has made up their mind to hire a foreign coach, but there are speculations now that the legendary fast bowler is back in the race of becoming the head coach.
However, Aaqib Javed has resigned from UAE coaching and he has been given the post of Director of Lahore Qalandar of Pakistan Super League. Aaqib Javed told Express Tribune that he hasn’t been contacted by the board for coaching role, but, if the board does, he will mull over it.
Peter Moores has a rich experience as he has coached England twice, once in 2008 and then in 2014, however, he was sacked at both the occasions. He has also coached county sides of Sussex and Lancashire.
Mickey Arthur coached South African side when Graeme Smith was the skipper and he had enjoyed a lot of success during the span. He was the first foreign coach for Australia; however, he couldn’t get the desired results and was sacked from the position in 2013. Mickey was involved with Karachi Kings coaching in PSL as well, but, the performance under his coaching wasn’t much pleasing.
