Potential blow for PSL: Asia cup in February
BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said, while talking to media after the selection committee meeting, that the Asia Cup will now take place in mid February before the T20 world cup.
“The Asia Cup will be held in mid-February, next year. However we have not decided the venue of the tournament. It could be Bangladesh or it could be India also. It will be decided in some time,” Thakur said on the sidelines of the selection committee meeting (quote via NDTV.com)
It is interesting note here that the Asia cup was earlier supposed to take place towards the end of February. This might well turn out to be a body blow for Pakistan Super League which is scheduled to take place during February and if Asia cup is scheduled for those dates, then many players will miss out a substantial part of the league and this will in turn impact its success.
It remains to be seen as to weather this was a deliberate attempt to hamper the success of the league and its success. It is absolutely unfathomable to grasp what the Indian board is trying to achieve from such attempts. Earlier their stance on India-Pakistan series has also been inappropriate after they had signed the MoU.
