PSL Draft 2017 – Live Updates

DUBAI: PSL franchises are all geared up for PSL Draft 2017 to pick their side for the second edition of the league. The five franchises of the PSL will chose the best players from a pool of 414 players, which include local as well as international players.

Franchises have retained players that had performed well in the opening season of the league. They will look to strengthen their sides by picking up new players from the lot. The PSL draft is expected to be more exciting as there are some big names featuring this season. There have been some transfers of players from one team to another.

Lahore Qalandars, who finished last in the inaugural season of the PSL, will have the first pick. They are all set to pick to former New Zealand’s skipper, Brendon McCullum and he is to wear the captaincy band as well.

Karachi Kings will have the second turn to pick a player and then the team that finished third and so on. Islamabad United, the reigning champions will have the last pick.

Franchises have to pick three players from Platinum, Diamond, Gold and Emerging categories, while they will pick five players from the Silver category.

The wait is almost over, everything is in place and the proceedings are just to start.

Here we go! The event has kicked off.

The anthems of all the franchises are being played at the Dubai Sports City.

Faisal Mirza is hosting the event.

At the moment a wonderful video of the last event is being played, from the preparation to all the key events of the previous season.

Najam Sethi is on the stage to address the event. He thanked people who worked extremely hard to make this league possible. He further stated, “We have fulfilled the promise of holding a success league, we have fulfilled the promise of holding a bigger and better season of the league and at the end we will hopefully fulfill the promise to host the final in Lahore.”

Pakistan’s test cap is being presented to owners of the franchises.

Platinum Category

Lahore Qalandars: Brendon McCullum

Lahore Qalandars picked the former New Zealand skipper, who is known for his aggressive approach as a batsman and as well as a captain.

Karachi Kings: Chris Gayle

Karachi Kings picked the big bashing batsman from the Caribbean, Chris Gayle!

Peshawar Zalmi: Shahid Afridi

Peshawar Zalmi retained their skipper from the season one, Shahid Afridi.
